Dr. Michálek completed PhD in Ecology in 2020. His research focuses on prey-specialised spiders. He studies the adaptations that allow them to subdue large and dangerous prey represented by ants, termites or other spiders. In the past, he investigated mainly the predatory behaviour of these spiders. Currently, he is interested in their venomic adaptations. He studies the efficiency of spider venoms using laboratory bioassays and analyses the composition of their venoms utilising proteotranscriptomics.
